Astrophysics and me
In my previous life I used to be an astrophysicist, until I decided
that the odds of getting a decent job in academia were only slightly better
than being hit by a meteor. However, I did make a few contributions to the
field while I was there, and a couple of my papers are available on the web:
The Deutsch Field Gamma Ray Pulsar I - The Model Basics
The Deutsch Field Gamma Ray Pulsar II - Application of the
Model
My thesis is kicking around on disk somewhere, and eventually I'll put
a link to it here. God knows why anyone would want to read it (except for
me, of course).
Astro links
The NASA Astrophysics
Data System (ADS). This has on-line versions of pretty much every astrophysics
journal article published in the last ten or fifteen years. This quality
of information is what the Internet should be about.
The e-print archives. No one waits for the published
journal articles anymore (though the peer review process is still critical)
- they read the preprints of the journal articles here.
The Queen's University
physics department. I spent
many happy years there. In particular, the astro group is where I hung my hat.
